​HAMILTON COOKS wins top National Marketing Award for Tandia

Each year, the Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA) provides the opportunity for credit unions across Canada to showcase their finest marketing initiatives from the previous year. Earlier today, the CCUA held their annual National Awards presentation virtually and Tandia was recognized and is the proud recipient of Canada’s top Marketing Award for credit unions for our HAMILTON COOKS fundraising initiative.

To recap this national award-winning project, last November Tandia launched a fresh and novel way to financially contribute more funds to Food4Kids Hamilton while celebrating local businesses and restaurants. With help from community business partners and the participation of 15 featured restaurants, Tandia published a cookbook that includes a bio and exclusive recipe from each restaurant. The books sold for $20 each, with 100% of all proceeds going to Food4Kids. By early January, 1,500 copies had been sold, resulting in a $30,000 donation to Food4Kids. The impact of this donation reduced the wait list to zero and meant an additional 75 children in need would receive a generous shopping bag of healthy food to take home every weekend. (In response to COVID-19 and school closures, Food4Kids has been safely distributing grocery gift cards instead.)

Rachel Osborne, Associate Vice President, Marketing and Business Development was honoured to make a virtual presentation about HAMILTON COOKS to credit union leaders and marketing peers across the county and accept the award. Her presentation showcased the project itself, the whole team behind HAMILTON COOKS and encapsulated what motivated and drove the project. At Tandia, core to our corporate social responsibility mandate is the belief that by assisting with fundamental needs such as nutrition and financial education, children in need in our community will be able to focus on developing life skills that will give them the chance to have a better future. HAMILTON COOKS was Tandia’s CSR mandate put into action.
