Welcome to a better banking experience.
We do things differently. We are as unique as you!

At Tandia, you’re not a number, you’re an individual and our neighbour from down the street. You are unique, and that matters to us. We understand that everyone is different, and we tailor solutions that are just right for you.
Tandia Financial a Division of Alterna Savings is member-owned and community-focused. We believe that financial institutions should be more accountable to the people they serve; we believe that there is more than one way to measure success; and we believe that our profits should have a positive financial, social and environmental impact on the communities in which we live and work. Actions speak louder than words, and we work hard to demonstrate our commitment each and every day.

The values that drive us at Tandia Financial are:
• Respect and care for our members, communities and each other • Follow through every time • Relentlessly pursue excellence • Learn as a team, win as a team • Do the right thing.

Tandia Financial is driven to lead the co-operative banking movement by delivering unparalleled products and services through a mutually rewarding relationship with our members and the communities we serve. Tandia’s purpose is to help our members find a path to realize their dreams. To do this: • We connect • We listen • We act.

‘Tandia’ is rooted in two meaningful words, ‘tandem’, meaning ‘together’ and ‘dia’, the Spanish word for ‘day’. It uniquely captures our promise to work alongside members each and every day to help build financially healthy futures.

Tandia Financial has a long history of exceptional member service and community involvement. Tandia was formed in 2014 through the merger of Teachers Credit Union, established in 1940, and Prosperity ONE Credit Union, established in 1957.
On December 31, 2025, Tandia Financial joined and merged with the Alterna Savings family. Today, Tandia Financial operates as a division of Alterna Savings, while continuing to serve members under the Tandia name and build on its strong local roots.
Tandia Financial has eight branches located throughout the Greater Hamilton, Brant and Halton regions, including Acton, Ancaster, Brantford, Burlington, Georgetown, Downtown Hamilton, Milton and Stoney Creek. Tandia also offers MemberOne, its virtual branch, providing convenient access to financial services and support for members.

Tandia offers a wide range of financial products and services for individuals, businesses and organizations, including everyday banking, mortgages, personal loans, lines of credit, credit cards, investments, RRSPs, TFSAs, financial planning and wealth management.
As a member-owned credit union, Tandia is committed to providing personalized service and solutions tailored to each member’s unique financial needs. Its approach is rooted in a hospitality-driven banking culture, where members are treated as people not just customers.
Tandia is also deeply committed to the communities it serves. Through donations, sponsorships, grants and employee volunteerism, Tandia supports local organizations and initiatives, with a particular focus on areas such as financial literacy, education, youth and community well-being.
From its roots in the education community to its future as part of Alterna Savings, Tandia continues to build on more than 85 years of history, community connections and member-focused service.

Today, we are proud that the spirit of our original Credit Unions and their founding members lives on in Tandia. We continue to seek ways to grow our Credit Union and improve the financial health of the people and communities we serve. From our grass-roots Member Referral Rewards Program, to our advertising and business development initiatives and involvement in our communities, we seek to continually grow our membership strategically throughout Ontario.
International Credit Union Day, coordinated by the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948. It was established to acknowledge the credit union model, history and commitment to communities locally, nationally and internationally.
