Tandia Supports New National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

    August 26, 2021 (Burlington ON)

Tandia is committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and is proudly rooted in education. The need to learn more, truly understand, and meaningfully reflect has become overwhelmingly loud and clear as we begin the reconciliation process.  In support of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action for Canada’s Indigenous communities, Tandia is stepping up in a number of ways to re-educate, listen, learn and help make a difference for future generations.

The new National Day for Truth and Reconciliation establishes a formal opportunity to honour and commemorate Indigenous culture, history and the heart-breaking legacy of residential schools in Canada. Tandia will begin observing this meaningful day for the first time on Thursday September 30, 2021.  All Branches and Corporate Offices will be closed, and Tandia is encouraging its members, employees, and their families to take the opportunity to reflect, learn and listen.

Tandia’s President and CEO, Richard Davies shared, “We all have a role to play in the reconciliation process. Our Board and the Senior Management team at Tandia see the value in setting aside time in our busy lives to learn more about Indigenous culture and history, the legacy of residential schools and to honour the Survivors, their families and communities. By honouring this day, we demonstrate our commitment to truth and reconciliation.”

Tandia is dedicated to creating a way forward and the ongoing process of reconciliation. Over the coming weeks, Tandia will be sharing resources, education pieces and positive investments to our surrounding communities in support of this very important cause through our website and social media accounts. We will also be introducing a number of ongoing education resources for Tandia employees.

Beyond the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, this Call to Action is a cause that will remain at the forefront for Tandia, as we continue to seek out ways to educate ourselves as Canadians and to provide ongoing support to these communities.
