    COVID-19 Member Update

    Tuesday June 30, 2020

The progress that Ontario is making in our battle to keep COVID-19 at bay and under control in recent weeks has been encouraging.

As more and more businesses open up and restrictions begin to loosen on social gatherings, it’s timely to share Tandia’s latest news and plans over the coming weeks. While the risk remains, we continue to implement and maintain proactive measures to ensure the personal and financial health and safety of our members, employees and communities.

Remaining Vigilant: Reduced Branch Hours & Cash Services Continue

For the next several weeks, we will continue with our reduced branch hours, limited branch closures (James Street and Ancaster) and the suspension of in-branch cash services. Taking these steps has contributed greatly to minimizing the risk for our members and our employees while still remaining accessible for your essential financial needs.

We continue to encourage you to choose from our remote banking options (including telephone service) from the safety of home rather than visiting a branch whenever possible. However, rest assured that if you are in good health and absolutely cannot avoid coming into a branch, we will be there to serve you, politely maintaining social distance protocols. In recent weeks we have installed plexiglass barriers and social distance markers in our branches for the enhanced safety of our employees and members and we continue our vigilant sanitizing practices. These extra precautions will be of continued benefit when we are ready to resume business as usual.

Business Members – CEBA Program Update

It has been widely shared in recent news that a new application stream is being added to the CEBA Program called a Non-Deferrable Expenses Stream.

Eligible small businesses that have experienced diminished revenues due to COVID-19 but face ongoing non-deferrable costs such as rent, property taxes, utilities and insurance will also be able to receive a loan of up to $40,000 to help cover operating costs. An eligible business must have paid $20,000 or less in total payroll to employees in 2019 and have 2020 eligible non-deferrable expenses greater than $40,000 and less than $1,500,000. You can read more details about the CEBA Program update on our website.

Please note that there is a change to the application process for this new stream and we are awaiting the availability of the new application. In the meantime, if you are interested in applying please contact the Member Solutions Centre at 1.800.598.2891 to be notified as soon as the application is available.
